Summary

One woman's secret journal completely changes her marriage in this hilarious and biting memoir -- soon to be a Netflix Original Series。

School psychologists aren't supposed to write books about sex。 Doing so would be considered "unethical" and "a fireable offense。" Lucky for you, ethics was never my strong suit。

Sex/Life: 44 Chapters About 4 Men is a laugh-out-loud funny and brutally honest look at female sexuality, as told through the razor-sharp lens of domesticated bad girl BB Easton。 No one and nothing is off limits as BB revisits the ex-boyfriends -- a sadistic tattoo artist, a punk rock parolee, and a heavy metal bass player -- that led her to finally find true love with a straight-laced, drop-dead-gorgeous 。 。 。 accountant。

After settling down and starting a family with her perfectly vanilla "husbot," Ken, BB finds herself longing for the reckless passion she had in her youth。 She begins to write about these escapades in a secret journal, just for fun, but when Ken starts to act out the words on the pages, BB realizes that she might have stumbled upon the holy grail of behavior modification techniques。

The psychological dance that ensues is nothing short of hilarious as BB wields her journal like a blowtorch, trying to light a fire under her cold, distant partner。 Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, but in the end, BB learns that the man she was trying so hard to change was perfect for her all along。

3。5 stars。 I never really intended to read the book, but there’s a show out now inspired by this。 The narrator is dramatic and entertaining。 Her husband is the opposite。 She loves him wildly and passionately and feels he is not reciprocating in a way that screams it back in volumes to her。 So she journals about her exes and he stealthily reads it and she spices it up in the writing, which seems to motivate him to do the same for her in real life and she’s loving the results。 Yes, she’s funny and 3。5 stars。 I never really intended to read the book, but there’s a show out now inspired by this。 The narrator is dramatic and entertaining。 Her husband is the opposite。 She loves him wildly and passionately and feels he is not reciprocating in a way that screams it back in volumes to her。 So she journals about her exes and he stealthily reads it and she spices it up in the writing, which seems to motivate him to do the same for her in real life and she’s loving the results。 Yes, she’s funny and full of hyperboles。 But her exes are all low caliber in comparison to her husband so there really is no comparison and they are not that enjoyable to read about。 It’s really her husband who is the fascinating one and how she does mental cartwheels trying to figure him out and plant seeds to get him to do her bidding。 They can’t read each other’s minds, that’s been proven, so in her convoluted way, she gets to fantasize and to set goals, only to realize that what she really wants is right there in sexy form with some added motivation, but without all the excess fanfare。 It is simply fun to embellish, but she’s content and she can certainly write in a way to spin a tale of grandeur。 。。。more

*3。75 stars* Oh boy! This was WILD and a lot of sex! 🔥 It felt like a sex dairy。 But it was a hoot。 I will say it did make me uncomfortable at times especially since she's manipulating her hubs through her journal。 But it was still very interesting and hilarious。 Ken sounds HOT! I'm still a little conflicted on how I feel。 But it was a quick addictive read!I kind of wish I had read the 4 different books about her ex's first but now I don't know that I could。 This definitely felt a very quick sum *3。75 stars* Oh boy! With the show starting soon on Netflix, I of course had to listen to this book。 First off, I’m definitely #TeamKen! I don’t know if any of this is actually true or not, but it’s fantastic either way。 It’s written in such a witty way that you can’t help but be easily intrigued and invested。 BB, if this is really you, I’m so sorry – but I found the character to be selfish and almost narcissistic at times。 But by the end, I got it。 I pointed to my phone (audiobook) and said “I get you, girl。 I get With the show starting soon on Netflix, I of course had to listen to this book。 First off, I’m definitely #TeamKen! I think you (or the character) were a product of your upbringing。 And honestly, who doesn’t love a bad boy that needs to be saved。 But Ken。 Oh, dear sweet, innocent, reliable Ken。 He is absolutely perfect。 I can see that he is the yang to your yin and keeps you grounded。 You brought out his adventurous side, and the human within the husbot。 You made him realize there’s more to life。 The narrator was phenomenal。 Ramona Master perfectly embodies BB’s character。 She delivered this story so great that it was hard for me to put it down! DNF @ 53%。I fully understood the sort of edgy humor tone that this author was trying to aim for, but for me it really didn't work, especially when it came to jokes that were made about Asperger's and other subjects that did not ring as very funny at all and veered more towards being completely offensive。 I attempted to read this in anticipation of the upcoming Netflix series (which is loosely based on Easton's memoir), but I think I'll just be sticking to the show instead。I voluntarily read and DNF @ 53%。I fully understood the sort of edgy humor tone that this author was trying to aim for, but for me it really didn't work, especially when it came to jokes that were made about Asperger's and other subjects that did not ring as very funny at all and veered more towards being completely offensive。 I attempted to read this in anticipation of the upcoming Netflix series (which is loosely based on Easton's memoir), but I think I'll just be sticking to the show instead。I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley。 All thoughts and opinions are my own。 。。。more

B。B。 Easton's book is hilarious and raunchy and so much fun to read。 The way it is written through journal entries is interesting and kept me engaged as a reader。 I laughed out loud so many time during this book。 It was raw and real but at its core it was about her love for her husband Ken。 B。B。 is wild and adventurous and Ken is "boring" and an accountant。 After kids and many years together B。B。 starts reminiscing about her wild days of crazy piercings and sex with rockers and starts to wonder B。B。 Easton's book is hilarious and raunchy and so much fun to read。 The way it is written through journal entries is interesting and kept me engaged as a reader。 I laughed out loud so many time during this book。 It was raw and real but at its core it was about her love for her husband Ken。 B。B。 is wild and adventurous and Ken is "boring" and an accountant。 After kids and many years together B。B。 starts reminiscing about her wild days of crazy piercings and sex with rockers and starts to wonder where the passion in her marriage went。 She then starts writing "super secret" entries in her journal which she realizes Ken is reading to see if he will help spice up their marriage。 This story is spicy and funny, but at its core, it is also sweet and full of love。 I enjoyed this book and cannot wait to see the Netflix special!Thank you to NetGalley and Forever Pub for a gifted copy in exchange for an honest review。 。。。more

I DNF’ed at 30%。 The premise was good but the uneasiness reading this was too much to take。 I felt so uncomfortable reading about the “skinhead” because it literally sounded like there was going to be rape involved。 The scared ness of the main character in regards to this guy felt so wrong。 Then we get to the infamous bad boy of the town which is repeatedly described as having a low iq and graced with the nickname ding-dong。 It was one thing to stomach those references, but when he’s regarded as I DNF’ed at 30%。 The premise was good but the uneasiness reading this was too much to take。 I felt so uncomfortable reading about the “skinhead” because it literally sounded like there was going to be rape involved。 The scared ness of the main character in regards to this guy felt so wrong。 Then we get to the infamous bad boy of the town which is repeatedly described as having a low iq and graced with the nickname ding-dong。 It was one thing to stomach those references, but when he’s regarded as suffering from mental retardation that was my final straw。 I’m not going to continue reading something that is meant to be in humor but makes me feel this sickened。 Not sure if I’m the only one who feels this way, but in this day and age, it’s just not acceptable。 。。。more

SEX/LIFE: 44 CHAPTERS ABOUT 4 MEN is an absolutely entertaining memoir about romance and relationships。 The author is a psychologist in a stable but sometimes boring marriage。 When she starts her diary to record her reflections about her past relationships, she thinks back on the good and bad that led her to where she is。 When she finds her husband snooping on her diary, she realizes the way to spice things up is with what she is writing。This was quite the ride, and I am definitely excited about SEX/LIFE: 44 CHAPTERS ABOUT 4 MEN is an absolutely entertaining memoir about romance and relationships。 The author is a psychologist in a stable but sometimes boring marriage。 When she starts her diary to record her reflections about her past relationships, she thinks back on the good and bad that led her to where she is。 When she finds her husband snooping on her diary, she realizes the way to spice things up is with what she is writing。This was quite the ride, and I am definitely excited about the Netflix series。 The writing is really fabulous, and I loved the diary format that felt like a spicier Bridget Jones。 The journey was very worth it and chronicles a life of mistakes and blessings in love。 There are some laugh-out-loud moments and some sweet moments, and the whole book is approached with light-heartedness。The reflections are definitely colored by her later experiences and current life, which was an interesting way for all of us to think about past relationships with the color of history。 The present also includes emails, which was intriguing。 I did find the manipulation of her spouse to be a little morally gray, but I'm hoping it was played up for the book。 The trip through her life was certainly entertaining。With a lot of humor and heart, this book is a highly devourable read of romantic reflections。 Please note that I received an ARC from the publisher。 All opinions are my own。 。。。more

Easton switches between the journal entries she wants Ken to see and the ones that are just for her eyes that analyzes her sex life with her husband。 Easton writes about her past sex life with humor, reverence, and the romanticism that comes along with those experiences that have left a big imprint on your life。 She is honest about the realities of marriage and those parts really spoke to me。 You can love your spouse with all of your heart and be happy in a marriage and still be disappointed by some aspects of it。If you are looking for a funny, super steamy, and raw and honest look at the sex life of a woman who has adventurous tastes in men, you need to pick this one up!

Book ReviewSex/Life 44 Chapters About 4 Men by BB EastonThank you to @grandcentralpub fro my gifted copy in return for an honest review。I love the premise of this book。 A behaviourist myself, the idea of shaping my husbands behaviour is something I do daily。 I also readily use behaviour strategies on my child and my cat。 Things like increasing chore activities have been my go to behaviour to modify in my household。 I am not nearly as brilliant as BB -I have never considered using behaviourism to Book ReviewSex/Life 44 Chapters About 4 Men by BB EastonThank you to @grandcentralpub fro my gifted copy in return for an honest review。I love the premise of this book。 A behaviourist myself, the idea of shaping my husbands behaviour is something I do daily。 I also readily use behaviour strategies on my child and my cat。 Things like increasing chore activities have been my go to behaviour to modify in my household。 I am not nearly as brilliant as BB -I have never considered using behaviourism to change my husband’s sexual or romantic behaviours as a means of improving my marriage。 Imagine my surprise to learn that Vanilla hus-bots are a thing and BB Easton has found a cure。Deftly told through journal entries, BB works towards making her husband into something more。 More romantic, more compassionate, more spontaneous, with a lot more sex。 Hilarity ensues as she ignites a fire under her husband (could be literal) and discusses her “data” with a colleague。 Chapter 17 Hoodie and the Blowjob……Steamy! Graphic! Descriptive! HOT!!!! Whoa…。 Hold on while I freshen up a bit after reading this part……。。I truly enjoyed Eastons writing style。 Her wit, sarcasm, and humour shine through the dialogue。 I could her the conversations playing out in my head and I can see why this book has already been made into a show on Netflix。 I totally plan on opening a bottle of wine and watching how it plays out on screen。In the end, Easton learns her hus-bot was perfect just the way he is (surprise)。 Her perspective of her husband, her marriage and their love life has changed and grown through the process。 Her husband may not be perfect but he is perfect for her。 Happily ever after in progress…。。 。。。more
